X-ray worries: Train and monitor personnel (Letters Section)

ON the advice of a general practitioner, I recently had a
diagnostic X-ray done at a clinic.
Two exposures at different angles
of the lumbar-sacral area would have been adequate. The poor clarity of one of
the developed films meant another shoot was needed. I was told it was dark.


A check on the Internet revealed one or a combination of factors could
contribute to dark films. These include light exposure problems in the
laboratory, developing time incorrectly set or processing temperature set too
high.

Although there are obvious benefits of medical X-rays, to be
further exposed to radiation is uncalled for.

There is no such thing as
a "safe dose" because X-rays have very potent mutagenic effect on human bodies,
even at low doses.
How then can a patient be
prevented from undue exposure and risk when undergoing X-ray imaging? Have the
personnel been properly vetted for their experience and qualifications before
being given employment?

Are the operating staff being regularly monitored
to prevent lapses in performance? (NST 26/5/2008)


Surat ni kuaq lam nst hari isnin..Patient zaman lani educated byk gak ye..Kadang2 sy tgk juru x-ray xsempat nk terang panjang2 napa perlu repeat x-ray trutama hari ortho.kadang2 kelentong ja kat ptient kata salah dia walhal kita punya salah(saya student dulu slalu la guna taktik ni) supaya x crita panjang.mcam mana ek pendapat forumer tentang letter ni?

pandai2 le ckp!!! nt masuk makamah susah lee!!

yeah pt nowdays very educated sometime too much educated but without proper knowledge just read info from here and there then are they really educated? Mmg x dinafikan sometimes kita repeat examination tp untuk kebaikan kan. ye la x kan nak bg images yg x baik untuk dievaluate oelh org lain. tp ye la nam pon pt kan mcm2 karenah. so ada x ada just explane ler baik2 mrh2 diorg pon kekdg if kita slow talk diorg terima gak.

sokong BlackBoner tp jgn la blmbut sgt smpai diaorang ni hentam kita secukup rasa kalo rasa2 dah lebih 2 bagi jer buku 5 baru padan muka diaorang yang berlagak pandai nih

Itu le untungnya tak pakai pacs system. Boleh le kelentong filem sangkut kat :P005: . Kena le buat lagi.

22 kna wat.. tmbah 1 lg keje...

kenapa nak kelentong bila pesakit komplen?. bagi tahu yang yang sebenar berlaku. Human error ke mechine error. manusia pun sakit . robot pun rosak ini pula dengan mesin.
kalu masih komplain , bagitahu dia jumpa lah dengan radiologist atau pengarah hospital. Biar kuasa lain yang menanganinya.

tapi kalau kita silap .............alamatnya terimalah komplen dan leteran itu dengan hati terbuka . tutup mutut, tutup telinga. diam saja

keadaan kt ni sperti diluah mati mak ditelan mati bpk mzxrite..ye la kta g tau kesilapan 2 berpunca dari kita @ dari mesin kt ttp dapat 2 HADIAH...maki hamun ngan surat komplen so kita nak ckp pe lg?.. kebenaran dah dibagitau tp HADIAH yang kt dpt.. bkn suma pt cm g 2 cm pt yang TERLAMPAU BIJAK jer yang suka bg HADIAH ni..

nak buat macamman A. sabarlah labu.
