ni nak tanyer btul ke kalo kerja sebagai juru x-ray ni boleh mandul?mase saye isi borang spa8 saye amik juru x-ray pelatih pastu kwan saye kate jgn nanti boleh mandul keje.ni tak tau la..????sape tau leh reply..

protect la diri sendiri..sure selamat..anyway drpd survey yg aku buat juru x-ray paling ramai anak..hehehhe....

kita org buat kje ade protection nye.........bilik tu pun dah dibuat dgn perlindungan terperinci utk jxr dan org lain yg berada diluar pn diambil kira......ketebalan dinding bilik tu dipastikan xray tidak boleh menembusinye...setiap tahun buat quality control.......lgpun dos yg dikenakan dan mase exposure tu rendah sgt......so risiko nye pn sure rendah......
jika semua syarat tak menepati dgn apa yg ditetapkan ole MOH xray xleh dilakukan.....
kitaorg juga ade cara utk mengurangkan dos xray yg digunakan pada pesakit n org kt luar.....contohnye,cassette,film yg digunakan mesti sensitif......teknik high voltan juga boleh membantu.......

Hi. I just recently started a job in the cath lab as an R.N. I
like it so far alot. I only have one concern: the radiation
exposure. I am planning to start having kids in a few months. And
I don't want to screw up my fertility. I know we wear lead, but I
am still concerned. I have read also that my future offspring may
have Downs syndrome OR have a high risk of childhood cancer and/or
adult cancers in their lifetime. Also, the lead covers my torso,
but what about my arms, legs, and head? Could I get a brain tumor?
I know that they monitor the employee's radiation levels to make
sure we don't get too much. But what if it does get high - they
decrease your time in the room, right? But then what, you just wait
to get cancer or have fertility problems?
Sorry I am going on and on. I am just really concerned and am
thinking about quitting because of this. All of my co-workers are
done having their kids and am not concerned for themsleves, they
tell me to "be careful". That does not make me feel any better. If
anyone has had any experience with this information please help me

I had some of the same concerns when I started working in the Cath lab in 1988. I went through an intensive radiation safety course which made me feel alot better. I actually talked with our hospital physicist and he gave me some information that eased my fears. First of all, you are not getting direct radiation from the tube. The exposure the circulating person and scrub person receives is scatter from the patient's body. X ray travels in straight lines so if the image intensifier is faced towards you, you need to be farther away from the patient. The principles of radiation protection
are time distance and shielding. If you are about 6 feet away from the
source of xray you literally have no exposure, even if you didn't have lead
on. When I became pregnant, the first 3 months I limited my case time and was on short heart caths and simple interventions. I continued to take call with a second RN and CVT. I also got a separate radiation badge for my abdomen that I wore under my apron that was monitored every month for the babies exposure. For both of my pregnancies the babies had zero exposure and were both very healthy. We also had a portable lead wall on wheels that I would place between myself and the xray tube. Whether you stay in the cath lab or not is a personal decision, but I hope that I have helped some. Let me know if you have any other questions. I am the manager of our cath lab now, but I have been through it all:)

I have worked in th cath lab for 17 years, many of ny co-workers and staff had
very successful pregnancies during their time in the lab. I think that you
should sit down with your physicist and share your concerns. He/she will be able to help a lot.

Your long bones and solid organs are at most risk.

1. Distance is your friend, at 6 ft f rom the x-ray tube you will receive
minimal exposure.
2. Wear lead glasses to protect your eyes
3. Wear your thyroid shield
4. Make sure that your lead reaches your knees to protect your femur
5. If you wear a waist badge, check those levels.

I am not sure what the statistics say so I can only speak from my 30 +++ years of experience and the observation of my coworkers. I can most certainly understand your concern and apprehension of continuing to work in the cathlab. I raised 5 children working in the lab and the last 6 years I spend most of my time doing EP and as you well know many of these cases can go on for many many long hours. I keep a close eye on my monthly radiation badge reading and my lab is very conscientious in keeping with what is new and what works in other Institutions to protect us in the best possible way. However the key to it all is your own behavior and using common sense. Never ever take a shortcut and don't get laxed by saying oh I am just picking up something and I will be right out of here while a procedure is going on. That short moment without lead exposes you and if you add moments such as that over a period of time--- increased risk to you and any potential child you may want to have.

I am a cancer survivor since 1996 and I am sure my job had nothing to do with my breast cancer. Remember their is nothing so important unless a life threatening situation arises that you cannot wait to get close to your patient until radiation has stopped and if need to be ask your team to hold of radiation till you are finished. When every one thinks the same way on your team it will work for you for many many years without the need to be afraid. Education and common sense go a long way and in the end you are able to do your job in an area that you truly enjoy. Good luck for your future.

satu lagi kalau nak loaded tak perlu guna apa-apa pelindungan..n bila kena dan disahkan mandul mulakan proses tuntutan X-Gratia.

Kalau mandul ok gak jng kena cancer sbb X-ray radiation...he..he..who knows just Allah...

lagi satu bila kat dlm OT..ada sn yg pesan kalu nak shoot nanti bagitau..ahhh takdak masa aku nak terjerit2 shoot 2,3kali kat depa..dah tau dlm tu ada ii..tak reti2 nak protect diri sendiri...takkan setiap kali aku nak shoot nak tgk kelibat depa saja...mana dgn kita nak centre ii tu lagi....
