During your Medical and surgical posting it is very important that you learn all about medical and surgical cases, how to clerk case, perform physical examination, know all the relevent lab test that a MO or HO ordered, review/learn how to interpret CXR and plain abd + KUB X ray, learn how to set line, draw blood, learn the colour of bottle samples, follow HO, MO and Physician(Pakar) ward rounds, do CBD and master the art of doing Dressings and learn how to read ECG and all the drugs use in hospital in Malaysia. All these knowledge are indeed important because during your Klinik Kesihatan posting you will diagnose and prescribe drugs. worst if no MO around. Now I can tell you most of the MA in KK are not well equiped in knowledge on medicine. Tak tahu how to clerk case..tak tahu how to examine patient and poor english command because during their student years sibuk nak buat bed making, mandi patient, beri bedpen dan sebagainya yang hanya sesuai dilakukan oleh nurse. We are AMO. During my clinical years in IPOH Hospital early in the morning i help HO take blood samples from patients, follow him round ward and they teach me alot about a diseases and Rx then follow MO round ward and lastly Pakar(I am the only one follow ward rounds because it was done in English,can u imagine). After that I read all the BHT, lab results and review all CXRs dll. My source of medical information directly from MO + HO, seldom ask Sister and SRN accept sisters in Wad 6C and 4A. Then I learn and take all vitals.At the end I still get my cross.Learn smart, you are a student not slave. Learn something that is relevent to your profession.

true.. strongly agree with brianteh...and the most important all the future PPPs must learn how to comunicate in english. make use all the oppurtunity.. MOs & HOs..and specialist as well.. make use of them.. not for ur personal... but for gaining ur knowledge..

Biasa la�tu� kalau posting kat wad kena suruh SN buat macam-macam keje yang sepatutnya PPK.Dulu aku siap basuh + cuci satu wad lagi....pandai-pandai meng"ular"kan diri.Banyakkan baca case sheet pesakit..tengok clerking Dr,tengok result lab,X-ray,MRI dan lain-lain.Daripada situ kita boleh belajar.Tak paham boleh semak buku..sekarang ada internet lagi senang...search je.

Kajian menunjukkan bahawa hampir 70% keperluan kemahiran bagi seseorang pengamal perubatan (termasuk paramedikal) boleh diperolehi di wad (medikal, sugikal dan lain-lain). Di dalam wad seseorang pelajar itu boleh belajar dalam pelbagai aspek pengurusan pesakit termasuk pemeriksaan fizikal, pemeriksaan klinikal, rawatan ubat-ubatan, kemahiran psiko-motor (prosedur) dan lain-lain lagi. Tanpa kemahiran ini agak sukar seseorang pengamal perubatan berfungsi di lain-lain disiplin termasuk A&E, KK dan lain-lain. Atas keperluan kepada kemahiran ini, kerajaan juga telah meningkatkan tempoh melakukan 'housemanship' dari 1 tahun ke 2 tahun bagi pegawai perubatan.

Bagi PPP, Kurikulum yang ada sekarang memperuntukan masa hanya 2 mnggu sahaja penempatan dimedikal dan surgikal pada semester 4. Dalam masa yang terhad ini tidak banyak kemahiran yang dapat diperolehi oleh pelatih apatah lagi jika terdapat cuti umum dalam tempoh tersebut ( atau lebih banyak buat kerja2 attenden..).

Atas keperluan itu juga, mulai sesi Julai 2009, difahamkan pelatih di semester 4 akan ditempatkan lebih lama di wad medikal dan sugikal atas harapan mereka dapat memperolehi pengetahuan dan kemahiran yang diperlukan. Namun masalah utama, ialah sikap pelatih itu sendiri. Jika semua pelatih mengikuti jejak brianteh, mungkin kurang masalah seperti yang telah diperkatakan oleh johnbrito.

dulu stma...skrg? anyway , to all students...study smart geng...practice make prefect actually..

menjadi pelatih bererti semua benda kena belajar.. susah susah dahulu, senang di kemudian hari... amik ler ilmu selagi ada!!!!! dh keje nanti tak semstinya u all akan dpt belajar lebih banyak lagi.....
