ARSHAVIN menjaringkan gol penting untuk membantu Arsenal memimpin kedudukan teratas liga.

Ia berjaya dicapai dalam tempoh kurang dua bulan selepas Arsenal tewas 0-3 kepada Chelsea yang ketika itu mendahului dengan kelebihan 11 mata.
Pengurus Arsenal, Arsene Wenger berkata, berada di tangga teratas berbanding pasukan lain pada ketika ini tidak akan melekakan anak-anak buahnya.
"Dengan kami kini berada di tangga teratas ini menunjukkan yang ia boleh berubah dengan cepat. Jadi ia dapat memperkuatkan keyakinan para pemain saya.
"Saya cukup bangga dengan pencapaian mereka kerana selepas kami tewas kepada Chelsea, ia kelihatan seperti sukar untuk kami bangkit kembali," kata Wenger.
Jelas Wenger, empat aksi genting selepas ini bertemu Aston Villa, Manchester United, Chelsea dan Liverpool bakal menentukan sejauh mana realistik cabaran mereka bagi kejuaraan musim ini.
"Empat perlawanan ini cukup penting. Kamu perlu bertarung untuk menang, sama seperti perlawanan menentang Bolton ini. Secara matematiknya empat pasukan ini lebih memberi impak pada kedudukan liga," ujarnya.
Pada aksi awal pagi semalam, Arsenal ketinggalan 0-2 menerusi jaringan Gary Cahill dan penalti Matthew Taylor sebelum Tomas Rosicky merapatkan kedudukan dua minit sebelum babak pertama berakhir.

LONDON: Arsenal bangkit daripada ketinggalan dua gol untuk menewaskan Bolton Wanderers 4-2, sekali gus melonjak ke tangga teratas Liga Perdana Inggeris (EPL) manakala Liverpool memulihkan imej tercalar dengan kemenangan penting menewaskan Tottenham Hotspur 2-0, kelmarin.

Kejayaan Arsenal di Stadium Emirates hasil jaringan Tomas Rosicky, Cesc Fabregas, Thomas Vermaelen dan Andriy Arshavin, melonjakkan barisan pimpinan Arsene Wenger mengatasi Chelsea di atas perbezaan jaringan dan mendahului kedudukan mata buat julung kali sejak Ogos lalu.

"Kami ketinggalan 0-2 selepas 20 minit pertama tetapi saya percaya pasukan ini tidak akan mudah menyerah dan mereka membuktikan karektor kuat itu sekali lagi malam ini (kelmarin)," kata Wenger.

LONDON- Arsenal berjaya merampas teraju Liga Perdana Inggeris (EPL) daripada Chelsea selepas bangkit daripada ketinggalan 2-0 untuk menewaskan Bolton Wanderers 4-2 di Emirates, semalam.

The Gunners perlu menang dengan kelebihan dua gol untuk mengatasi The Blues tetapi ia hampir musnah apabila mereka ketinggalan dua gol dalam masa setengah jam menerusi jaringan Gary Cahill dan Matt Taylor melalui sepakan penalti.

Tiga hari lalu, di Stadium Reebok, anak buah Arsene Wenger itu menewaskan lawan sama 2-0.

Namun, Arsenal membalas satu gol sebelum rehat menerusi Tomas Rosicky sebelum jaringan ketua pasukan, Cesc Fabregas, Thomas Vermaelen dan Andrey Arshavin memastikan kebangkitan bedilan The Gunners.

Kekalahan itu meletakkan Bolton di kelompok tiga pasukan tercorot.

Semalam, Bolton hanya memerlukan tujuh minit untuk mendahului Arsenal apabila Cahill menemui gawang hasil hantaran Kevin Davies.

Bolton menggandakan kelebihan itu pada minit ke-28 apabila pemain tengah Arsenal, Denilson menjatuhkan pemain Bolton, Lee Chung-Yong dalam kotak penalti. Taylor menyempurnakan sepakan itu untuk menjadikan kedudukan 2-0.

Tetapi Arsenal berjaya mengurangkan perbezaan gol itu pada minit ke-43 apabila Rosicky menjaringkan gol.

William Gallas bernasib baik tidak dibuang padang selepas menjatuhkan Mark Davies.

Fabregas meledak gol ketiga Gunners apabila berjaya mengelecek pemain lawan sebelum merembat bola menerusi celah kaki penjaga gol Bolton, Jussi Jaaskelainen.

Pemain tengah Vermaelen meletakkan The Gunners di depan pada minit ke-65.

Arsenal melengkapkan malam gemilang mereka untuk merampas puncak EPL apabila Arshavin merembat masuk hasil hantaran Eduardo.

Wenger banking on Bendtner

Arsene Wenger believes Nicklas Bendtner can solve Arsenal's striking problems.

The Gunners have lacked a player to hold the ball up since Robin van Persie and Bendtner were injured in the back end of last year, with their frontline looking decidedly diminutive against the Barclays Premier League's strapping defences. Wenger was asked on Friday whether he will be signing a physically imposing striker, and he replied: "I have just come in from a training session where Bendtner looked exactly like the guy you describe.
"At the moment we are not on the verge of signing anybody.
"It is very difficult in January to find players who are available for the Champions League, who are just good enough to play for Arsenal and at the right price. You never know, but at the moment it is unlikely [that we will sign a striker]."
Arsenal are the top scorers in the Barclays Premier League with 59 goals and have coped well without van Persie and Bendtner.

This week has been a question of strength for Arsenal.

The issues have been both numerous and notorious. Are Ars�ne Wenger�s side strong enough to beat Bolton twice and go top of the table? Having done that, will they have the strength to stay there? And, somewhat annoyingly, was William Gallas� tackle overly-strong in the build-up to his team�s second goal on Wednesday.

By the time Arsenal travel to Stoke on Sunday it will be a different week and a different competition.

But the questions of strength will linger.

On Thursday the manager said he intended to �use his squad� for the FA Cup Fourth Round tie at the Britannia Stadium. That is �Wengerish� for multitude of changes.

The following day he was more transparent. After confirming Jack Wilshere, Sol Campbell and Mikael Silvestre would be the squad he added: �We have called up Kyle Bartley, Jay Emmanuel Thomas,Francis Coquelin, Gilles Sunu, and Craig Eastmond.

�Sol will be OK to play [after regaining fitness] but, right now, I don�t know if I play him. However it is a big opportunity for him if he does.

�I have to make a decision at right back too. Eastmond is possible. We moved him from there to central midfield in the past, so we�ll see. But Coquelin can play right back as well.

�I want to pick a team which is strong enough to win the game, without ignoring we are under immense physical demands in every single game right now and the fact some players need to have a breather.�

With Aston Villa, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool all coming up in the next fortnight or so, the logic of Wenger�s team selection for his new leaders is undoubtedly sound. However will the youngsters on show have the strength (there�s that word again) to cope with one of the most robust sides in the top flight?

In the past, Arsenal famously came unstuck against Sam Allardyce�s Bolton. The past week has shown the bogey is well and truly buried. However in many ways Stoke have taken the mantle the Reebok Stadium outfit used to possess.

Powerful, forceful, wilful, successful.

It was enough to dispatch a below-par Arsenal 2-1 in the Premier League game at the Britannia Stadium last November. The formula is still working. Stoke are 11th in the table right now, one place higher than they finished last year.

Undoubtedly Wenger knows what is coming on Sunday, the question is can his side stop it?

However, as ever, the manager�s pre-match concerns were less about the problems his side may face and more about how they can impose their game on their opponents.

�It's a question I never ask,� he said. �I just go to the game thinking 'how do we win the game?�. Nothing else.

�I feel physically we are one of the strongest teams in the League. And yet for a few years now we've won the Fair Play table.

�But,� he smiled, �it�s trophyless of course.�

Of course, the FA Cup was the last silverware held aloft by an Arsenal captain. That was five long and much-talked-about years ago.

It is somewhat ironic that, but for their recent comeback in the Premier League, Arsenal might be playing a stronger side on Sunday. In addition, there is always the danger that any defeat may affect their new-found momentum.

�We have recently improved our belief and certainly gained some credit with people who love Arsenal,� said Wenger. �That is the most important thing.

�Being top of the League is interesting psychologically but mathematically there is very little difference especially with Chelsea having a game in hand.

�For me those next four matches are not decisive but important. We deal with it game by game and our next Premier League game is at Aston Villa.

�We know that there is a long way to go but if we don�t believe we have a chance from the position we are in now, then we will never believe. So let�s be pragmatic, go into every game with the focus on producing a top-level performance and believe we can win it.

�Right now the FA Cup is our next game. It is always difficult to determine priorities but we want to keep the momentum going.

�We want to go to Stoke, to win the game and get through to the next round.

�We want to be a winning team,� he concluded. �And the FA Cup is part of that.�

LONDON: Pengendali Chelsea, Carlo Ancelotti memberi peringatan kepada pendahulu baru Liga Perdana Inggeris (EPL), Arsenal bahawa inilah detik terbaik untuk kelab bergelar The Gunners itu untuk menunjukkan perwatakan memburu gelaran.

Pengendali berbangsa Itali itu hanya mampu melihat barisan anak buah Arsene Wenger menggantikan The Blues sebagai pendahulu baru liga, minggu ini dengan hanya perbezaan jaringan gol.

On why his side is out of the FA Cup...
"It was a game that was more physical than technical and physically they were stronger than us today. We had a fantastic attitude and at 1-1 we looked like we were on top in the last 20 minutes and it was important not to make a mistake. We got caught on the counter attack on the second goal and that was an important moment in the game. "
On making a triple substitution in the second half...
"I know that it would be tight but I had hope that after bringing the three players on we would win the game. On the other hand you say always if you play the experienced players you have a better chance and it was like that today. They were sharp, they were physical and they were always dangerous in the air. The pitch was very difficult because it was not very good and it took us too much time to bring the ball down and to play."
On if he regrets his team selection...
"No, I had not much choice I must say. Bacary Sagna, Thomas Vermaelen and Gael Clichy could not play and I think Sol Campbell had a good game overall. If you look at our schedule you cannot always play with the same XI that is for sure. If you rotate and you don't win it is your fault so I can only stand up and say that is the team I picked. We have 10 injuries and we are going into a period where we cannot rotate a lot in the big games."

"He did for me very well. For a guy who has not played for five months he had a very good performance. Maybe in the last 20 minutes he was a bit fatigued but surprisingly fit for a guy who has not played for such a long time. He is motivated, works very hard in training and you could see that today."
On Stoke City...
"You get no surprise when you come here. They look stronger in the fight as the game went on. They didn't create a lot in the first half but in the second half they looked more dangerous."
On defensive injury problems...
"Sagna, Vermaelen and Clichy will all be back for Aston Villa and they could have missed it if they had played today."

"It is important for us to focus on that because we in an interesting position and of course on Wednesday night we have a very important game at Villa."
